Use this guide to export listings from Hostaway to Booking.com, understand the setup requirements, and complete the steps needed before opening the listing to guests.
Hostaway automates the export process, but you remain fully responsible for checking your listing and settings on Booking.com before and after opening, and when accepting new guests.
Exporting listings to Booking.com
The Hostaway software allows you to create new listings on Booking.com by exporting them from Hostaway.
We suggest you use this function if you have or plan to add many listings. If you have fewer listings, or if the listings already exist, it is better to create them manually on Booking.com.
Before exporting
- Listing export is available regardless of the number of listings you have
- You will need a Booking.com Legal Entity ID (LEID). Please contact Booking.com if you don't already have one
- If Booking.com does not manage guest payments, you will need to connect to a payment provider and use the Hostaway guest payment feature
- The Hostaway software exports the listing content once. If you need to adjust images, bed types, or content after the listing creation, you will need to do this manually on Booking.com
- The Hostaway software updates the financial settings of existing listings on Booking.com
- Create a Booking.com Account. Click on this link and make sure you select "Hostaway OY" as your channel manager. The local Booking.com office will contact you to prepare your account.
Exporting a listing to Booking.com
Preparing your listings for content export
You can only export one listing per address. If you have multiple listings for the same address, you will need to create them manually on Booking.com.
Please follow the next steps to prepare your listings for export:
- Go to your Hostaway Dashboard > Listings
- Select the listing you would like to export > Edit
- Fill in the required information
- Save
To ensure a successful export, please ensure that the following details are completed:
- Basic Information tab. Every single field is mandatory. Property type must match the channel-specific Booking.com room type (found in the channel-specific tab)
- Correct and complete address details
-
Property names
- Should have at least 3 characters
- Should not include more than 5 numbers tt
-
Photos and Tags
- Requirements. At least 5 photos
- Highly recommended for better ranking. Good quality, properly tagged photos (about 20)
- Tags are mandatory
- Photos are compressed automatically to fit the standard for the channels and the website; if they're too heavy, they affect performance. It's recommended to re-upload the picture or use a different quality so it's not as compressed when uploaded. We currently resize images to approximately 1280 x 900, but the minimum size for photos to be uploaded is 1024 x 683 pixels
-
Price & fees. The number of guests included must match and cannot be more than the total number of guests allowed under the basic info tab
Make sure the listing has a price, currency, number of guests included in the price, and price per extra person
-
Additional Info. Please always fill in the check-in and check-out times and square meters
Language must be set to English, and all content must be written in English
-
Channel-specific title and description. The best practice is to have different titles and descriptions per channel:
- The title should not exceed 30 characters
- The description should not exceed 9999 characters
- Contact person information (name and international phone number)
- License. Only if required in your city
- Amenities

Clicking Export triggers the export immediately
Export process
- When you click Export, the export to Booking.com is triggered immediately. If the export fails — for example, because required fields are missing or incorrect — you'll be notified in Hostaway with the reason, and you can fix the listing and retry the export yourself, without needing to wait for the Hostaway support team.
- Then, Booking.com will review (automatically or manually) the export
- Then, Hostaway will send you an email explaining the information you need to check and how to open your property:
- Update your markup in Hostaway (Channel Manager > Settings)
- Ensure your VAT/taxes and cleaning fees are correctly set on Booking.com. Please note that although you can enter/visualise these values in Hostaway Dashboard > Listings > Prices & Fees, due to integration limitations, these values are not synchronised with Booking.com
- Go to Channel Manager > Channels > Configure Booking.com > Search for the listing and click on the Open button.
- On the main listings page, you will see that each listing is assigned different logos of the channels it is connected to. By clicking on each logo, you will be redirected to the listing page of the particular channel. In the case of Booking.com, the link will work 24-48 hours after the property is set to Open/Bookable.
- The description may be further modified by Booking.com after export; this is due to their internal policy and cannot be updated or changed from Hostaway. The automatic description set on their side is based on the listing content and amenities, which are explained in the following articles:
