Use this guide to update and sync content for your existing Booking.com listings from Hostaway, including listing details, amenities, photos, policies, and other supported content fields.
Managing your Booking.com listing content is now easier than ever. With the Booking.com Listing Content Sync, Hostaway users can update key content fields for their existing Booking.com listings directly from the Hostaway dashboard, reducing manual work in the Booking.com extranet.
Overview
This feature is a major step toward enabling users to manage their Booking.com listings entirely from Hostaway. Instead of logging in to Booking.com to make routine content updates, you can now manage important listing details from one place.
What is Booking.com Listing Content Sync?
Booking.com Listing Content Sync allows users to update the content of their existing Booking.com listings directly from Hostaway.
With this feature, all fields that are connected to Booking.com will sync.
This helps ensure your listing information stays consistent across platforms, while saving time and reducing the need for manual updates in the Booking.com extranet.
Disclaimer
Only the fields you actively update on Hostaway will be pushed to Booking.com. For example, if you update only the listing description, only the description will be synced — no other fields will be touched.
This gives you precise control over what gets sent to the OTA and prevents unintended changes.
Partial Sync
- Booking.com content sync works differently from most OTA integrations.
- In many OTA integrations, the full listing content is sent every time you export or sync a listing. For Booking.com, only the fields you actively update in Hostaway during your session will be sent to Booking.com.
- This is intentional and gives you more control over what is updated. Many hosts manage certain Booking.com fields, such as rate plans or property-specific settings, directly in the Booking.com extranet.
- Partial sync ensures that Hostaway only updates the fields you explicitly changed, while fields managed directly in Booking.com remain untouched unless you update them in Hostaway.
Listings, Properties, and Rooms
| Hostaway | Booking.com |
| Listing | Room (1:1 mapping) |
| — | Property (can contain multiple rooms) |
- Each Hostaway listing maps to one Booking.com room
- Multiple Booking.com rooms can belong to the same Booking.com property
What this means in practice:
- Some fields are room-level (e.g., room-specific details), and others are property-level (e.g., property name, property description, certain fees)
- If you update a property-level field on Listing 1, and Listing 1 and Listing 2 are both connected to the same Booking.com property, the change will be reflected on that property in Booking.com — affecting both rooms. However, on Hostaway, only Listing 1 will show the update.
Tip: Keep this in mind when updating property-level content for listings that share a Booking.com property
Photo Management
Hostaway provides photo management options for Booking.com listings.
To manage the order of your photos, click Re-arrange photos. This allows you to view and adjust the photo order in an improved photo management view.
You can also use the Copy to property option to create a property-level photo gallery.
Hostaway maintains two photo galleries for Booking.com listings:
- Listing gallery: syncs to the Booking.com room.
- Property gallery: syncs to the Booking.com property.
New Visibility Tool: Sync History
To make troubleshooting easier, we've introduced a new visibility tool: Sync History.
In the Channel Connections tab for your listing, you will now find:
- Review Issue – Use this option to check the current connection status of the listing.
- Sync History – A log that shows every sync attempt made with Booking.com, including the API response from the OTA, whether the sync was successful or failed.
This tool is especially useful for identifying sync errors and understanding why certain content updates may not have gone through.
How to Access It
Follow these steps to review or edit your Booking.com listing connection:
- Go to your Hostaway Dashboard > Listings
- Select the listing you want to edit
- Click Edit
- Open the Channel Connections tab
- Locate Booking.com
- On the right-hand side, you will find:
- Review Issue to check the current connection status
- Sync History to review sync attempts and Booking.com API responses
Why This Matters
This update gives you more control over your Booking.com content directly within Hostaway. Key benefits include:
- Reduced manual work in the Booking.com extranet
- Faster content management
- Better visibility into sync activity
- Easier troubleshooting when updates fail
- More centralized listing management
Important Notes
- This feature applies to existing Booking.com listings
- Availability of specific fields may depend on the Booking.com connection and supported API behavior
- If a sync fails, check Sync History first to review the response and identify the issue
