Learn how fees and taxes are mapped between Booking.com and Hostaway, what is included in the integration sync, and what to check in your listing settings if amounts are not updating as expected.
What is this?
Booking.com reports fees and taxes in a localized manner, meaning the names provided may be in different languages or may not always match the exact terms in Hostaway’s list of fees and taxes. Additionally, Booking.com occasionally introduces new fees and taxes, requiring regular updates to the mapping. Fees and taxes that come for the first time fall by default under "Other fees".
Important Notes
- Cleaning Fee Management: Customers must add or update the cleaning fee directly on Booking.com. This fee cannot be managed through Hostaway's system.
- Tax Remapping: Items identified as taxes can be remapped in Hostaway Dashboard > Financial Reporting > Settings > Taxes > Taxes Mapping > Booking.com. See more details
Recent Updates (Early 2025)
The latest updates to the fees and taxes mapping have been implemented in early 2025. These changes will be reflected in all reservations with a check-in date from January 1st, 2025, onward to ensure consistency for the entire 2025 year.
Key Mapping Changes
-
Tourism Fee and Resort Fee: These were previously mapped to the City Tax category, but they will now be mapped to their dedicated categories:
- Tourism Fee → Tourism Fee
- Resort Fee → Resort Fee
Future Enhancements
In the future, AI will be used to automatically map any new fees or taxes introduced by Booking.com, reducing the need for manual updates and improving accuracy.
