Some cities and countries require a licence or registration number before a property can be listed on Booking.com. You can now enter and update this information directly in Hostaway. Hostaway sends it to Booking.com for you, so you no longer need to log in to the Booking.com extranet.
Important
Hostaway sends your licence information to Booking.com and shows whether Booking.com accepted it. Hostaway does not confirm that your licence is legally valid. You remain responsible for meeting the rules that apply to your property.
Before you start
- Your listing must be connected to Booking.com and exported at least once. Booking.com tells us what your location requires after the listing is created on their side.
- If your location has no licence requirements, you will not see a Booking.com licence section.
- If you already entered your licence on the Booking.com extranet, you will find it in Hostaway. You don't need to enter it again.
Add or update your licence
Open the listing. If a licence is needed or has a problem, you'll see a warning icon at the top of the page. Click it, or go to the License info tab.
Find the Booking.com license information section.
If there is more than one licence type, choose the one that applies to your property.
Fill in the fields. Required fields are marked, and Hostaway checks the format as you type.
If a certificate is required, upload it as a JPG, PNG, or PDF.
Click Save. Your licence is sent to Booking.com with your next export, and you can follow its progress in the listing's sync history.
If you don't have a licence
If your location offers an exemption, choose it from the licence types and confirm. If every field in your location is optional, tick the box confirming you have no licence information to provide, then save. Booking.com will record your choice.
Several listings in one building
Booking.com asks for some licences once per property rather than once per unit. In that case, you enter the licence on one listing, and the other listings in the same Booking.com property show it as read-only. To change it, use the link on the read-only listing to go to the listing where it was entered.
In other locations, such as Dubai, Booking.com asks for a licence for each unit, and you'll see a separate form on each listing.
After you save
Booking.com confirms that it received your licence but doesn't check it straight away. It checks your licence before your listing can open, and Hostaway re-checks live licences regularly. If Booking.com finds a problem, you'll see the warning icon again and the reason on the License info tab.
While there is an open licence issue, the Make live button for Booking.com is disabled. Your other listing updates, such as rates and availability, still sync as normal.
Troubleshooting
- I can't find the licence section. Make sure the listing is connected to Booking.com and has been exported at least once.
- I don't understand a field. Field names come from Booking.com and depend on your location. Check with your local authority or Booking.com's guidance for your area.
- My licence was refused. Open the License info tab to see the reason, correct the information, and save again. If the problem continues, contact Hostaway Support.
- My licence expired, or the rules changed. Update the licence on the License info tab and save.
