Connect to Safely

• If you are looking for information about Hostaway Insurance Powered by Safely, which is a separate in-app solution, please refer to this article for guidance

Step 1

You should find your Hostaway ID and API key. To do so:

1. Go to Hostaway Dashboard
2. Go to  Settings > Hostaway API
3. Under the Hostaway Public API, you will find:
   • Click on the Create button
     
     
     
     
   • Name your API Key: Safely-Company Name-API Key
     
     
     
     
   • You will see the API key. We will show it only one time! Make sure to save it

You can find more information about the API key in this article.

You will also need your Account ID. You can find it in Settings.

Step 2

Once you have collected the Account ID and API Key, copy and paste them into an email and send the key to Safely at concierge@safely.com to connect your Hostaway account.

Step 3

Set up your fees for each property based on the booking channel. 

Direct Bookings

These fees can be applied to direct reservations coming from the Booking Engine, WordPress plugin, and the Hostaway dashboard:

1. Go to Listings on the left menu
2. Click Edit on any listing
   
   
   
   
3. Click Price & Fees
   
   
   
   
4. Find the section Direct Channel Fees
5. Click Add Fee > Select Fee Type – Suggested fee type: Insurance Fee
   
   
   
   
6. Enter the following:
   • Name
   • Amount
   • Type – Flat, Percentage, Per Night
   • Fee Applied
   • Check Mandatory
   • Save
     
     

Note: The Safely fee needs to be mandatory. It will always appear in the reservation and is not removable by the guest. The mandatory direct channel fees are automatically added to the Hostaway reservation amount during checkout.

Channel Specific Fees

1. Go to Listings on the left menu
2. Click Edit on any listing

Airbnb

• To apply the Safely insurance fee for the Airbnb channel, you should add it as a management fee rather than a custom fee. The way to do this is by including the Safely insurance fee as part of your overall management fee for the Airbnb listing. This allows you to pass along the Safely insurance cost to your guests without needing to set it up as a separate custom fee.
• To add a fee for insurance to all Airbnb reservations on a per-night basis, you have two options:
  • Markup the base rate for the reservation
  • Use one of the other options provided by Hostaway, such as adding a service fee or damage protection fee. However, there is no direct option within Airbnb to add a per-night insurance fee.

Select:

• Resort fee. Fees are added to the rent rate
• Community fee. Fees are added to the rent rate
• Management fee. Fees are added to the rent rate
• Linen fee. Fees are added Cleaning Fee - Fee must be a Flat $ amount per reservation or % markup. Please note that Airbnb does not accept per-night fees

All fees are set within Booking.com by the property and then pushed back into your Hostaway account.
