Learn how Airbnb short-term rental license requirements affect listing publication, minimum stay restrictions, and connection stability with Hostaway.
Airbnb STR license
In various countries and cities, you will need a valid license for your short-term rental property. Without this license, your listing might not be published, or you can only accept guests staying for a minimum of 30 days.
When your registration fails
- Contact your local city authority to provide proof that your listing is valid for short-term rental
- Ask local city authorities to contact Airbnb to inform them that our listing is valid for short-term rental
- In the event it takes a couple of days or your city doesn't help you, contact Airbnb by email with your case
To manage your license, log in to Airbnb > manage your listings > open one listing > and go to the tab "regulations". Here you can upload and review your license information.
What does this mean for your Hostaway API connection?
- When the license has issues, the connection will become unstable.
- In some cases, you might be able to handle last-minute guest requests, but calendar or message updates will not update as expected on Airbnb.
- When the Hostaway system starts to detect this, we try to inform you by email and in various other places and provide warnings.
- You must act on this as soon as you are notified about this by Airbnb or Hostaway.
- Although Hostaway tries to provide superior support in all cases.
- Due to the legal impact of license issues, we are not authorized, nor do we have access to information, to assist you with specific license issues.
- When the issue is fully resolved by you, our team can assist in reviewing if the connection is working again as expected.
