There are several ways to stop accepting bookings on an Airbnb listing, depending on whether you want to pause temporarily, deactivate the listing, or archive it permanently. This guide explains each option and what happens to your data in Hostaway.
Important: Once an Airbnb listing is connected to Hostaway, Hostaway becomes the master calendar. Availability changes should be made in Hostaway, but listing status changes (activating, deactivating, archiving) must be managed in Airbnb directly.
Option 1: Temporarily Block All Availability (Pause Bookings)
The fastest way to stop new bookings without deactivating the listing:
- In Hostaway, go to the listing's Calendar.
- Block all future dates to prevent new reservations.
- The blocked dates will sync to Airbnb, making the listing appear unavailable to guests.
To resume accepting bookings, unblock the dates in Hostaway.
Option 2: Snooze or Deactivate the Listing on Airbnb
Airbnb offers a Snooze feature that hides your listing from search results without fully deleting it. This must be done on Airbnb directly:
- Log in to your Airbnb account.
- Go to Listings and select the listing you want to snooze.
- Under Listing Details, find the listing status and select Snooze or Deactivate depending on the options available for your account.
- Confirm the action.
While snoozed or deactivated, the listing will not appear in Airbnb search results, but it will remain mapped in Hostaway, and the connection will stay active. Hostaway will continue syncing availability and rates in the background.
Option 3: Archive (Permanently Remove) a Listing from Airbnb
Archiving permanently removes the listing from Airbnb. This cannot be undone.
- Before archiving, unmap the listing in Hostaway: go to Channel Manager > Channels > Airbnb and remove the mapping.
- In Airbnb, go to Listings and select the listing.
- Select Archive listing. Airbnb may ask for a reason.
- Once archived, the listing cannot be recovered from Airbnb.
Warning: Archiving on Airbnb is permanent and irreversible. If you only want to stop bookings temporarily, use the Snooze or availability blocking options instead.
Moving a Listing to a Different Airbnb Account
Airbnb does not support transferring a listing from one account to another. If you need to move a listing:
- You will need to create the listing from scratch on the new Airbnb account.
- Unmap the original listing from Hostaway first.
- Import the new listing from the new account into Hostaway.
- Historical reservations from the original listing cannot be transferred automatically.
What Happens to Hostaway Data When You Deactivate or Archive
| Action | Hostaway mapping | Reservation history | Can reactivate? |
| Block availability | Stays active | Preserved | Yes — unblock dates |
| Snooze on Airbnb | Stays active | Preserved | Yes — unsnooze on Airbnb |
| Deactivate on Airbnb | Stays active in Hostaway | Preserved | Yes — reactivate on Airbnb |
| Archive on Airbnb | Must unmap manually | Preserved in Hostaway | No — permanent |
When to Contact Support
- Contact Airbnb support if you cannot find the Snooze or Deactivate option for your listing type.
- Contact Hostaway Support if the listing remains mapped in Hostaway after archiving on Airbnb, or if you need help cleaning up orphaned mappings.
