Booking Website Pro: Pop-ups – Hostaway

Learn how to create and manage pop-ups in Booking Website Pro and use them to highlight offers, messages, or calls to action.

Popups allow you to add new popups to your site. Pop-ups are a type of small window that appears in a web page. Popups can be set up to appear when clicked as a link or automatically as an action from a personalization rule. Use popups to grab users' attention or provide information without having to change pages.

Add Popup

To add a pop-up:

In the side panel, click Pages.
Click the Popups tab.
Click + New Popup.
Select a pop-up type. The pop-up type pre-populates the pop-up with widgets.
Type a name for your popup, and click + Add Popup.

Activate Popups

Unlike a page generated in the navigation automatically, a pop-up can only be triggered by being clicked as a link or by using a site personalization rule. Popup triggers only occur once per session. A session is any activity on the site and remains active until at least 30-60 minutes have passed.

Link to Popup

Several widgets allow you to link to a pop-up, such as Photo Gallery image links, text, and buttons.

To link to a pop-up:

Right-click the widget that you want to link to the pop-up from, then select Edit content. Alternatively, if you are linking from text, highlight the desired text and click the link icon in the text editing menu.
Click Popup, then select which popup you want to link to from the dropdown menu.

Use Personalization Rules to Condition a Popup

You can create a pop-up using site personalization or set personalization rules for an existing pop-up. Personalization rules can include what triggers the pop-up to appear, how quickly the pop-up appears on the screen, and more.

To see your personalization rule in action, try 1) clearing your cookies and cache, 2) using another browser, or 3) waiting until the time has expired.

Close Popups

By default, the X button can be clicked to close a pop-up. You can also add a "Close popup" link to any linkable element in the popup that will close the popup when clicked. For example, you could add the close link to a button that says "No thanks" on a pop-up that is offering a coupon code. When the website visitor clicks the No thanks button, it will close the pop-up.

To add a close link to a pop-up:

In the side panel, click Pages.
Click the Popup tab and open the desired pop-up.
Click any linkable element in the pop-up and select Close Popup as the link.

Edit Popups

A pop-up is very similar to a page. You can add new rows, columns, and insert any widget into a pop-up. To adjust the size of the pop-up, drag the bottom right corner.

Popup Settings

To edit the settings for a pop-up:

In the side panel, click Pages.
Click the Popups tab.
Click the settings () icon for a specific pop-up. You have the following options:
- Rename. Rename the pop-up in the editor. This does not change the page URL.
- Duplicate. Creates an exact copy of the popup.
- Delete. Deletes the pop-up. This action is irreversible unless you have a backup.
