For all of our customers
Your Billing Address is essential to Hostaway to apply the correct tax rate.
1. How can I change my billing address?
- Go to your Dashboard > Settings > Payments Details > Click on Update Billing Address
- You can find more information in the Verify your Hostaway billing address article
2. Can my billing address be updated on a paid invoice?
- We either got this information from your contract or you added it yourself via the Hostaway Dashboard
- Once an invoice is paid, we cannot change the billing address for this invoice
- That said, you can update your billing address and it will automatically update on future invoices.
3. I was charged sales tax when I should not be, how can I change this?
- We will apply an applicable tax rate based on the billing information you have provided to us
- This can be changed by updating your billing information
- Note that we will not refund or claim back collected tax from the state in case an incorrect address has been provided to us.
Specific to our European customers
1. I am in the European Union and I should not be charged VAT, how can I pass the information?
- To charge you a 0% VAT, we need your European VAT ID (not your local VAT ID)
- You can validate your VAT ID on the VIES site
- If it is valid, we will be able to change it
- If it is not valid, we will not be able to change it and the system will keep charging you VAT
- Once you validated your VAT ID, you can pass it to us by using this form
2. Can I be refunded if I was charged taxes?
- If the information was not provided in your contract and we charged you your local VAT %, we will not be able to refund the invoice. You will have to contact your local authorities to get this refunded back to you.
- Please note that since Hostaway is a Finnish company, all our Finnish clients will be charged VAT, even if a valid VAT ID is provided.
