Boost Your Bookings with New Vrbo Promotions

This feature allows you to create and manage targeted promotions directly for your Vrbo listings. By setting up Weekly, Monthly, Early Bird, and Last-Minute discounts, you can attract more guests, increase occupancy, and maximize your revenue.

 

Why Use Vrbo Promotions?

When you activate a promotion, your listing gets special treatment on Vrbo, making it stand out to potential guests. Benefits include:

  • Special Badging: Your listing will be marked with a promotional badge to catch the eye of travelers.
  • Price Strikethrough: Shoppers will see the original price crossed out next to the new, lower price, highlighting the great deal they're getting.
  • Enhanced Visibility: Guests can filter search results to specifically find properties offering discounts.
  • Clear Discount Labels: The promotional details are clearly displayed on search results, your property page, and at checkout, encouraging guests to book.

Disclaimer

Only 5% or higher discounts are merchandised in Vrbo, meaning that setting a lower discount (e.g. 3%) will reduce the final reservation price, but the guests won't know that it's a discount and will just see it as the normal price

 

How to Set Up Your Vrbo Promotions

This guide will walk you through setting up the four types of discounts currently available: Weekly, Monthly, Early Bird, and Last-Minute.

 

1. Setting Up Weekly and Monthly Discounts

These discounts are perfect for encouraging longer stays. You can set one of each type.

  1. Navigate to your listing's settings and go to the Prices and Fees section.
  2. Under the "Discounts" subsection, you will find options for a weekly and a monthly discount.
  3. Enter the percentage discount you wish to offer for each. For example, enter "10" for a 10% discount.
  4. Save your changes. The discount will automatically apply to bookings of 7 nights or more (weekly) or 28 nights or more (monthly).

 

2. Setting Up Early Bird and Last-Minute Discounts

These promotions are designed to fill your calendar in advance or secure last-minute bookings.

  1. From your listing's edit page, go to the Channel Specific tab.
  2. Find the Vrbo Discounts section.
  3. Configure your desired promotions:
    • Last-Minute Discounts:
      • Discount starts: Enter the number of days before arrival when the discount should become active.
      • Discount (%): Enter the percentage discount to offer. (Example: Setting it to 7 days means the discount will apply to any booking made within a week of the check-in date.)
    • Early-Bird Discounts:
      1. Discount ends: Enter the number of days before arrival when the discount should no longer be available.
      2. Discount (%): Enter the percentage discount to offer. (Example: Setting it to 90 days means the discount will apply to any booking made more than 90 days in advance.)
  4. Save your changes.



 

By leveraging these new promotional tools, you can create a more dynamic pricing strategy that appeals to a wider range of guests and helps you achieve your booking goals on Vrbo.
