Overview
- The Hostaway Insurance, powered by Safely, provides insurance coverage for damages to your rental properties resulting from guest activities during their rental period. Through our partnership with Safely, you can access coverage designed to address both accidental and intentional damages.
- The cost of insurance is assessed on a per-night basis, and the claim process is seamlessly embedded within the Hostaway platform, offering a convenient and efficient means to safeguard your rental properties.
- Upon activation, damage protection is applied to every new reservation created from your activation date forward, and it cannot be selectively applied on a booking-by-booking basis. However, you can select if you want to cover all connected channels or selected channels.
- Important: Reservations created before your Safely insurance policy activation date are not covered under the Hostaway Insurance powered by Safely. Only new reservations made after your policy activation date are eligible for coverage.

Details & Explanation
- Coverage Start: Once you activate Hostaway Insurance powered by Safely, coverage applies to all new reservations created from your activation date forward. Reservations that were created before your policy was active—even if the stay dates are after your activation—are not covered by the insurance policy through Hostaway.
- Why? The insurance system only enrolls reservations that are logged in Hostaway after the insurance is activated. This is a standard industry practice to prevent retroactive coverage for previously booked stays.

Example:
- If you activate insurance on May 8th, 2025, only reservations created on or after May 8th, 2025, will be covered.
- Reservations created before May 8th, 2025 (even if the check-in is after May 8th), will not be covered.
The insurance start date is the check-in reservation date, and the insurance end date is the check-out reservation date.
Currently, you can only file damage protection claims in the United States, excluding New York. Guest screening is not included at this time.
