Learn how translated Airbnb guest messages work in the Hostaway Inbox and how to view messages in their original guest language.
Managing guests in multiple languages shouldn’t mean copying messages into translators or juggling extra tabs to figure out what someone needs.
That’s why we’ve added a new feature to the Hostaway Inbox: Airbnb guest messages can now be shown in their original language directly in the Inbox.
This feature is also available in the Hostaway Mobile App.
What’s new?
-
Automatic translation in the Inbox (default)
- You’ll see translated Airbnb guest messages directly in the conversation.
-
Translation based on your Airbnb language
- The translation is based on the language you selected in your Airbnb account.
-
Switch to the original message anytime
- You can toggle to view the guest’s original message at any time (one click = instant reality check).
How to use it (step by step)
- Log in to your Hostaway Dashboard.
- Open the Inbox.
- By default, guest messages in Airbnb conversations will appear translated.
- When you want to confirm wording or context, click to view the original message (and switch back anytime).
Why it matters
This update makes cross-language communication:
- Faster — less time spent interpreting and rewriting.
- Smoother — fewer interruptions in your workflow.
- Safer — quickly verify nuance by checking the original when needed.
- Cleaner — reduces the “copy/paste into 3 tabs” routine.
Best practices
- For sensitive topics (check-in details, house rules, payments, incidents), double-check the original message before acting.
- If anything feels ambiguous, reply with a short confirmation question to avoid misunderstandings.
