- For each listing, a code validity can be set. You can create time-bound offline access codes with validity durations at either the hour or day levels
- Some device manufacturers enforce a maximum duration for hourly-bound offline access codes
- If we detect that your account has a device that supports it, you will see a button to enable the creation of offline codes
Please pay attention to the following limitations for offline codes:
- Offline codes can’t be deleted or edited, but when the guest changes the reservation dates a new code will be created automatically. This is a limitation of the offline locks, so we suggest using the automation trigger “code created” to automatically send any new codes that may be created for the reservation.
- Offline codes are created algorithmically, so you can’t set specific values (or use the guest’s phone number)
- Each manufacturer has their rules/limitations, so an offline access code won’t be created until 72 hours before check-in. Keep this in mind when you’re setting up your message automation to communicate the code to your guests
- When using offline codes, it is best to first map the locks in Hostaway and then activate the offline code, otherwise, you are likely to get an "Invalid access code time range, start time must be a value greater than the current time" error
- For offline codes, we do not support 7 to 9-digit codes. The reason behind this is that 7 to 9-digit codes can only be used as "Master PINs" (which are not meant to be constantly managed) and Hostaway instead uses "Custom PINs" (which do not support so many digit codes
