Overview
The Calendar screen in the Hostaway mobile app gives you control over which listings are displayed and how they are arranged. Three distinct controls are available via the top-right toolbar: View Options, Filters, and Sorting. These controls allow you to personalize your calendar view without affecting the underlying data.
Accessing the Controls
All three controls are accessible from the Calendar screen via the toolbar in the top-right corner:
1. Search – Search listings
2. Controls – Opens the combined controls menu
3. Refresh – Refreshes the calendar
Tapping the Controls icon opens a dropdown menu with three entries:
Menu Item | Description |
|---|---|
| View options | Controls which overlay elements are shown on the calendar |
| Filters | Narrows down which listings are displayed |
| Sorting | Changes the display order of listings |
| Clear all | Resets all active filters, sorting, and view options at once |
Active changes indicator: A red badge with a number appears on the controls icon when one or more non-default settings are active (e.g., a filter or custom sort is applied). This gives you a quick visual cue that the calendar view is currently customized.
View Options
Overview
The View Options control determines which overlay elements are rendered on top of the calendar grid. This allows you to reduce visual clutter or enable additional data overlays.
How to Use
Tap the controls icon → tap View options.
The View options bottom sheet opens.
Toggle the desired options on or off using the checkboxes.
Tap Reset to restore defaults, or simply close the panel — changes apply immediately (no Apply button required for view options).
Available Options
Option | Default State | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Reservations | Enabled | Displays reservation bars (guest name, number of guests) across booking dates |
| Notes | Disabled | Displays calendar notes overlaid on the relevant dates |
| Cleanliness status | Enabled | Displays cleanliness/housekeeping status indicators on listings |
| Minimum nights | Disabled | Displays the minimum night stay requirement on each date cell, shown as a number next to a crescent moon icon (e.g., 2 ☾) |
| Inquiries | Disabled | Displays inquiry bars on the calendar, allowing users to see pending guest inquiries alongside confirmed reservations |
Minimum Nights Stay
When Minimum nights is enabled, each day cell in the calendar shows the minimum stay requirement for that date, displayed as a number followed by a crescent moon icon – for example, 2 ☾ means guests must book a minimum of 2 nights starting from that date.
This overlay helps users:
Quickly identify minimum stay settings across their entire portfolio
Spot conflicts between gap length and minimum night requirements
Make faster decisions about adjusting restrictions to fill vacancies
Note: Minimum night values are set in the listing's pricing and availability settings and are reflected in real time on the calendar.
Inquiries
When Inquiries is enabled, yellow inquiry bars are displayed on the calendar alongside confirmed reservations. Each inquiry bar shows the guest's name and the requested stay dates, allowing users to quickly see pending requests without navigating away from the calendar.
This overlay helps users:
Quickly spot open inquiries across their entire portfolio at a glance
Prioritise follow-up responses before inquiries expire
Distinguish between confirmed reservations and pending inquiries in a single view
Note: Inquiries are displayed in a distinct visual style to differentiate them from confirmed reservations. Inquiry status and details are managed in the Inbox.
Filters
Overview
Filters allow you to narrow down the list of listings displayed in the calendar. When one or more filters are active, only listings matching all selected criteria will be shown
How to Use
Tap the controls icon → tap Filters.
The Filters bottom sheet opens.
Use the dropdown selectors to choose one or more filter values.
Tap Apply to apply the filters to the calendar.
Tap Reset to clear all filter selections.
Available Filters
| Filter | Input Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
Tags | Dropdown (multi-select) | Filter listings by assigned tags |
Country | Dropdown (single-select) | Filter listings by the country they are located in |
City | Dropdown (single-select) | Filter listings by the city they are located in |
Units | Dropdown | Filter by unit type or a specific unit; defaults to "All units" |
Key Behaviours
Filters are cumulative – selecting values across multiple fields further narrows the results (AND logic).
The red badge on the controls icon increments for each active filter applied.
Tapping Clear all from the main dropdown menu removes all active filters at once.
Sorting
Overview
Sorting controls the order in which listings appear in the calendar row list. You can choose from several ordering options to match their workflow preferences.
How to Use
Tap the controls icon → tap Sorting.
The Sort options bottom sheet opens.
Select one of the available sort options using the radio buttons.
Tap Apply to apply the selected sort order.
Tap Reset to return to the default sort order.
Available Sort Options
Sort Option | Description |
|---|---|
Default order | Displays listings in the order they were configured (default) |
Custom order (A → Z) | Sorts listings by their assigned order number, lowest first |
Custom order (Z → A) | Sorts listings by their assigned order number, highest first |
Name (A → Z) | Sorts listings alphabetically by internal name (A → Z) |
Name (Z → A) | Sorts listings reverse-alphabetically by internal name (Z → A) |
Key Behaviours
Only one sort option can be active at a time (single-select radio buttons).
Listing default order is the pre-selected default.
Sorting is independent of Filters — both can be active simultaneously.
The red badge on the controls icon reflects when a non-default sort is active.
Clear All
Tapping Clear all from the main controls dropdown resets all three control areas simultaneously:
All Filters are cleared
Sorting is reset to "Listing default order."
View options are reset to their default state
The red badge is removed from the controls icon once all settings are at their defaults.
