What is the Cookie Consent Banner?
The cookie consent banner is a notification shown to visitors on your Booking Engine, informing them about the use of cookies on your website. Cookies are small files stored on a user’s device that help enhance the browsing experience and allow you to track analytics and user behavior.
Automatic Compliance with Local Laws
The cookie consent banner automatically adjusts to the legal requirements of your visitors’ locations. Whether your guests are browsing from the EU, UK, US, or elsewhere, the banner displays appropriate consent options and information to ensure compliance with local data privacy laws, such as the GDPR.
How to Disable the Cookie Consent Banner
If you prefer not to display the cookie consent banner on your booking engine- or use your own cookie consent banner provider- you can easily disable it from your Hostaway dashboard:
- Log in to your Hostaway dashboard
- Navigate to Booking Engine Settings
- Locate the Cookie Consent Banner option in the Domain & Security section
- Toggle the setting to Disable
- Save your changes
Note: The banner is enabled by default to help you comply with privacy laws.
Implications of Disabling the Cookie Consent Banner
Legal Considerations
Disabling the cookie consent banner may put you at risk of non-compliance with privacy laws in certain regions, such as the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These laws often require websites to inform users about cookies and obtain their consent before tracking or storing data. Please review the legal obligations that apply to your business and location.
Analytics and Tracking
If you disable the cookie consent banner, you will not be able to track user analytics or behavior on your booking engine with your Google Analytics ID or Pixel ID. This is because, without user consent, cookies and tracking scripts will not be activated. As a result, you may lose valuable insights into your guests’ booking journey and website performance.
We recommend keeping the cookie consent banner enabled to ensure compliance with privacy laws and to maintain access to analytics data.
