How can a host modify an Airbnb reservation?
- A guest or host can require alteration to an existing reservation. At this moment, Airbnb does not allow partners to approve the alteration requests on their end, which must be done in Airbnb
- Hosts can request a reservation alteration by changing prices and/or listing. If the guest doesn't accept the change, the reservation must be canceled
- Alterations on Airbnb consist of some changes that can be offered/requested by the host or the guest in a reservation. The other party must accept those changes to have a confirmed reservation
- If there is an alteration or pre-approval (special offer) on the reservation, fees that are normally included in the base price on Airbnb and are displayed in the Hostaway reservation financial breakdown will no longer be included in the breakdown, as they must be considered as part of a custom base price.
Alterations required from the host
The host goes to the details of a reservation and clicks on change or cancel:
The host selects to change the reservation:
The host can change:
- Listing
- Dates
- Guests
- Price
Guest accepts. During the interval process, the reservation keeps the same status Reservation, both in Airbnb (Confirmed) and HostAway (New) it doesn't change its status to Pending. The reservation keeps the same ID as well.
Reservation is modified and Hostaway gets a "Modified Reservation" notification (if enabled). At that moment Hostaway changed the calendar if the dates were modified as well.
Remember that only confirmed reservations can have an alteration (if the reservation is pending, this is not applicable).
If the host is unable to modify the dates of an Airbnb reservation directly within the Hostaway platform, they will need to make the date changes directly through the Airbnb channel. Airbnb reservations cannot be edited directly within Hostaway, so the host will need to unlink and relink their Airbnb calendar in Hostaway, and then make the necessary date changes on the Airbnb platform.
