Learn how date formatting works in Hostaway and how standardized date formats help avoid confusion when managing reservations, reports, and account settings.
We’re standardising how dates are displayed across the platform so you see a more consistent experience everywhere.
What’s changing
Until now, date formats have appeared in different ways across the application. For example, some pages showed:
- day/month/year
- month/day/year
- 2-digit years
- spelled-out month names
We’re fixing this by moving to a single date formatter that follows your account settings.
Default date formats
If you haven’t already set a preferred date format, the default will depend on your account region:
-
US-based accounts: month/day/year
Example:3/10/2026 -
All other regions: day/month/year
Example:10/03/2026
You can always change your preferred date format in your Account Profile Settings.
What to expect during the rollout
This update is being released gradually, page by page.
During the rollout, you may temporarily notice different date formats on different pages. This is expected and temporary.
It’s also worth noting that many of these inconsistencies already existed. This update is designed to fix them over time, not introduce new issues.
Can you change your date format?
Yes. You can customise your preferred date format at any time by following the steps below:
- Go to your Hostaway Dashboard > Settings
- In the Account Details tab > On the top right- hand > Click on Edit profile
- A new window will open > Scroll down till you find the Date format
- Select the format from the dropdown
- Click on Save
If you notice different date formats
If you see inconsistent date formats across the platform, it’s likely because the standardisation is still being rolled out to that page.
We’re actively updating the platform so your chosen format is applied more consistently everywhere.
