Improved Linked Listings (Parent & Child) with Selective Availability

1. What is the idea/improvement you'd like to see implemented?

We propose an enhancement to Linked Listings (Parent & Child) that allows greater flexibility in managing availability between related listings. Specifically, we need a way to:

• Keep the Parent Listing (in our case for example full property, sleeps 14) always available for future bookings.
• Allow the Child Listing (in or case for example smaller unit, sleeps 3) to be bookable only within the current month, without affecting future availability of the Parent Listing.
• Ensure that the Child Listing’s availability does not automatically block the Parent Listing when it is inactive.

This would provide property managers more control over how and when sub-listings are made available without impacting the primary full-property listing.

2. What problem would this solve for you?

Currently, if we link a Parent and Child Listing in Hostaway, any booking on the Child Listing automatically blocks the Parent Listing. This creates a problem when trying to implement a setup where:

• The full property (for example sleeps 14) is always available for future bookings.
• The smaller unit (for example sleeps 3) is only available for last-minute bookings within the current month if the full property remains unbooked.

Right now, Hostaway’s system does not seem to support this flexibility, making it difficult to manage split-booking scenarios.

3. What are you currently doing to work around this issue?

At the moment, we are manually monitoring availability and adjusting listings, which is not sustainable. The risk is that we may end up blocking potential bookings for the full property or accidentally double-booking the Child Listing.

A solution within Hostaway to control when and how the Child Listing becomes available without impacting the Parent Listing would be extremely valuable.

  I am here to request this exact feature. It would help so much to have the flexibility between three linked listings, as manually managing them long-term is not sustainable.
