Pet Fee on Booking Engine
AnsweredGuests should be able to add a pet to their reservation as part of the process where they enter their dates and guest count.
The pet fee should then be automatically applied to the reservation total, and be shown in fee breakdown. This is how Airbnb, VRBO, etc. do it.
It makes no sense for the pet fee to be an "upsell," which is Hostaway's current solution. The guest does not see the upsell until they are on the booking finalization page, at which point the pet fee is shown under "enhance your stay" which is just weird.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We had never thought about the pet fee in that way. We will run this through the team to evaluate the complexity and all related user flows. Once this assessment is complete, we will determine where it can be placed on our roadmap.

agreed - as an up sell it doesnt then link to the guests details so dont show if a pet is booked in. Also the guest should be able to to add pets and children here - the only place is using the search bar which i dont need to use for 2 properties

I just finished setting up my account, and completed my onboarding. I've been very happy with everything until I reached this pet thing. It's a real problem since almost all of my guests bring dogs. I need to know, and I need to easily charge them on some of my properties. I hope it's changed very soon, I don't understand how you couldn't think of it this way.

Any update update on your assessment, Paulias? The current way pet fees are implemented in the reservation process for Hostaway direct bookings and booking engine bookings is not helpful. If I setup a Hostaway direct reservation and indicate a pet on the reservation the pet fee does not appear on the reservation. This is a huge flaw. When will this be fixed, so there is a correlation between pets on the reservation and the pet fee showing under the concepts?

You're not re inventing the wheel, just copy what every other OTA is doing. The users of hostaway need to be able to add a pet to their reservation.

I agree!! This is neededas more and more guests travel with pets. A full automation of this is needed.

Any update on this feature? You said you’d evaluate and see where it sits on your roadmap. Where does it sit on the roadmap? This month, quarter or year?

+1 for this. We're in the middle on onboarding and this is going to stop us from moving to Booking Engine as our direct booking site. This needs to be fixed ASAP!!!

Any update on this? This is so necessary. Currently the pet fee sits at the BOTTOM of the upsells. Why does the only NECESSARY upsell sit as the last option? Guests always miss it.

In Hostaway's defense I was warned about this work around before I signed up. That being said I echo all of the comments preceding mind. Please just make this something the guest can opt into when selecting guests. Since this has been on Hostaway's radar for a significant amount of time I'm hoping it will change soon. I don't have any experience with Hostaway's upsells, so that's what I'm going to tackle next.
