Deactivated Listings "Archive" vs. Deletion
PlannedI don't ever want to delete a listing. I lose historic data like revenue, guest info, conversations, etc. Any professional host inevitably has churn; 3 of my clients sold their properties in the last 5 months. Hostaway either forces us to pay full rates in perpetuity for a dead listing, or forces us to delete the listing, losing everything. Archiving is not a remotely effective solution.
All that we need is an "Archive" button that saves the listing data, but disconnects it from everything else. It has to cost basically nothing to host the listing data; I shouldn't be forced to choose between deletion and full rate.

Hello everyone. This is Yanni, Senior Product Manager at Hostaway. We’ve heard your concerns. Your data belongs to you. We understand that there are many use cases where you need to retain data even after a listing has churned—whether for tax or auditing purposes, or to make a business case to present to future owners that you are trying to sign.
In 2025, we plan to add functionality that will allow you to archive listings while retaining their financial and reservation data.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback.

+1 Agreed!!!

Has Hostaway been receptive to ideas about this?

@Summit Sky Ranch - when I had a discussion with them a few years ago, no - their "solution" was to download the data into a spreadsheet. If we get enough of us upvoting this, though, maybe we can collectively change their opinion.

Guesty (for Pros) has this feature. We just transitioned from Guesty to Hostaway. At Hostaway, they REALLY don't like when another PMS beats them on a feature. This is one aspect in which Guesty definitely wins for now. Basically, listings could be deactivated, which would unlist them from all the channels and not allow any reservations to be made. This also paused billing for that listing.
Separately, looks like this request only has 2 upvotes? It should at least have 3 (one for each of us commenting here, Chad you can upvote it yourself also even though you created it!)

I agree, losing that data is nerve racking but I don't want to pay full price to keep it either.
I have a few listings that are only available for bookings for part of the year. I would like to be able to deactivate it until the owner makes it available again without losing any data or having to do the work of importing it fresh again.10 -
This would be a great feature. I just had 4 properties that I managed and were owned by a group of family and friends, not my family and friends that decided to try a discount property manager that doesn't even live in the area. They may end up being happy with the change, but I have a feeling there is a good chance that they may be back. They are all properties that have a min of 30-40 4.5+ reviews so to pay full price for the next year for properties that are not active OR to have these properties completed removed and have to start over if they come back seems to be an unfair choice. I could understand if Hostaway wants to charge a $1 or $2 monthly fee for the storage of Archived properties data - that would at least give us a reasonable option, but it would also encourage us to remove properties after some time as well.

Yes, we definitely need this. Properties come in and out of the rental pool, sometimes for years at a time

Yes, this is almost a must have.

Agree!!! We are dealing with properties that have been damaged due to wildfire and now flash flooding. While our owners are at the mercy of the weather and battling insurance, they fully expect to be up and running...at some point. In the meantime, they are non-renting while we are carrying all the costs and fees associated with them and our other integrations. To have to download all the info only to go back and rebuild the listing all over again is not good, especially when there's a simple solution that's already offered with your competitors.
We also migrated from Guesty to Hostaway and this feature was great. We could still access all their rental history and guest info, and when running financial and performance reports, we really need that information included!

Please, please, please can we implement this. I have multiple properties that are only available for part of the year and this is becoming a bit of a deal breaker. If this is not a feature that will be considered I will likely be switching to a different platform :-(

I support "Archive".
I've been attending numerous Zoom conferences to learn more about Hostaway, and I've come to realize that not all property managers or channel managers offer the same features. However, being able to "archive" a listing for various reasons is essential.Sometimes, a property may need an upgrade, while other times it might need to be unavailable for a couple of months. It's a hassle to be forced to delete the listing from Hostaway just to avoid being charged. We cannot afford to lose money.
Hostaway Team, please help us with this issue!
I believe it's very important for us, your loyal customers.

I was just about to submit a new request when I came across this request. We made the mistake of deleting a listing to save on having to pay the listing fee to Hostaway and sure enough, we lost everything! We were about to pay the previous client for July and realized all reservation data was gone! Every other platform allow you to deactivate or pause a listing which stops all charges. This needs to be fixed asap!

We export out all our reservations out as they happen and store them in a database. We can help you with your data needs if you want to do that too. We can export out almost all aspects of a listing, in fact. Also can upload and create listings via the API quickly. Feel free to find us through the market place on Hostaway.

Being able to archive properties, or put them on 'hold' is essential. Many of the places I manage are seasonal, 2-3 months a year. Hostaway is great, except for the lack of this feature. I have been deleting them on Hostaway and having them sit unlisted on Airbnb, then re-importing. Unfortunately when deleting on Hostaway all the past guest info is lost. Hostaway isn't cheap (it's worth the procie), but the cost to maintain and pay for these seasonal listings for 10 months cuts into any management fee for the 2-3 months. Hostaway, please listen to us! :)

Thank you for sharing your idea! Currently, this feature isn’t on our roadmap, but we’re always open to feedback and suggestions. While we don’t have immediate plans to implement it, that could change as we continue to evolve our product. Your input is valuable, and we'll keep it in mind for future updates.!

Please be sure it also retains all listing details including including pricing, amenities, fees etc. Sometimes owners want to deactivate for a while and then come back. We need to be able to do this seamlessly.

I am in need of the archive several listings and not delete for all of the reasons stated in the above comments. Please advise if this will be an initiative in 2025? Thank you.

How much longer on this request? We also lose guest book information that we capture on the check in form. This is our data. Please get this rectified. Thank you!!!!!!

This is one of my biggest challenges with Hostaway. I have a listing that doesn't want to continue renting at the moment but might expect to relist next year. I can either pay Hostaway to keep the listing, or delete the listing and lose all history. Either way is a terrible option. Hostaway can make more money by charging a small fee to allow us to archive them instead of us deleting them. What is the update on this change???
