Currently someone is pre approved as soon as we respond to an inquiry in Hostaway.
Sometimes we respond after an inquiry and have further questions to ask to confirm they are a guest that we would like to book. Sometimes there are people trying to pull a scam, or someone attempting to book who wants to throw a large party that is not allowed, and if they are immediately pre approved and book but they are not an ideal guest for our property then we have to cancel the booking and that can be an issue with our ratings in VRBO or cost us money for cancelling.
I did not even know that this is how pre approval with VRBO worked in Hostaway until I looked up how to pre approve someone.

Hi Hilary, our Product team gave an update on this request. Unfortunately, VRBO does not support a pre-approved status, and it's not something we're able to propagate to the channel. We understand this may be disappointing, but please know that your feedback is invaluable. It helps us understand our customer's needs and guides our future development efforts. We will keep your suggestion on record and revisit if VRBO's pre-approval processes change in the future.
