Listing preparation date blocks before and after reservations in all channels
AnsweredCurrently, preparation time blocks to block a day before and after each reservation are only possible for reservations that come from Airbnb (Listing edit > Channel specific > Airbnb > Preparation time). This is not good enough. We have one cleaner that services one listing that cannot commit to same-day turnovers and requires us to block off the night before and after every reservation.
Instead of using Airbnb's built-in preparation time, it would be better to simply automatically block the calendar in Hostaway. This way the block carries over to all channels and not only within Airbnb. This is extremely important to us. Our cleaner doesn't care whether the reservation came form Airbnb or another channel. They only care that we don't give them same-day turnovers, at least not without checking with them first to make sure they can handle it. So, ideally the calendar block would be automatic, but then we'd be able to unblock it if the cleaner gives us the green light.

Not all channels provide this feature "out of the box" via API, but we understand the use case. We are looking at ways to overcome the limitation and handle the logic on Hostaway instead, though there are no clear plans/timelines for it for now.

Agree - and adding to this - the ability to create rules around this. E.g. automatically block the day of check out for stays >30 days, as example. When we have long stays, properties need deep cleaned. In theory our VAs should block the calendar for these, but they are sometimes missed, which causes very angry cleaners or ops managers. Automated rules around this would be a huge help.

Agree! Automated clean blocks across all channels will help support our cleaning guidelines but also a huge time saver not having to constantly go through the calendar to do manual blocks. Automations make our jobs easier!

Please add a feature where Hosts/Property Managers can create an automation to block days before, after, and both before and after a reservation at the time a reservation is made for the other booking channels (not just Airbnb). Blocking days to avoid same day turn overs is vital for my property management company. Please!

Agreed, this feature needs to block the Hostaway calendar. With all the features Hostaway have this seems like a basic non negotiable.

We absolutely require a default ‘maintenance buffer day’ post guest stay to be applied to all channels. Our turnover team is not able to guarantee same-day turnovers. With this currently only being applied via AirBnb bookings, I’m now obliged to manually block this maintenance day for all other channel bookings, resulting in inconvenience, and potential real time errors should I not attend to this in a timely fashion. This request has been referred to by many for the past 6 months…. Are there any steps forward?

Maybe tie it into tasks. An option to each task to "block off" booking ability might be a solution?

The feature already exists to block only check in or check out. It would be perfect if a new booking automatically blocked check out at the 1st day of a reservation and blocked check in the last day of the reservation.

I agree with all statements. We have one listing that requires a day blocked before & after but, as another person said, this isn't possible for any channel other than Airbnb. Is there a work around that would do this now?
In addition, it's been our experience that unless the day is blocked as an owner stay, Hostaway thinks it's an error and deletes the block. So I have to add an owner's stay called "cleaning block" the day before and the day after a reservation.

This is a must since Airbnb is the only channel that supports this at this time. If we have to block one day at the start and end manually it's a lot of work and if they want to change the reservation it conflicts with the blocked dates. As long as it's blocked at the start and finish of each reservation it will work for all future reservations regardless of what channel the reservation comes from.

Agree with the other posts. Have a short term rental that requires day before and after blocked automatically with new reservations. Adds another step with manually blocking the days. Please make this happen
