Frequently asked questions
Why does Hostaway need to do this?
For many years non-official partners could work with there API software as an official program didn't exist yet. Airbnb has released the official program end 2018 for official partners. All these partners you can find on the Airbnb website here. Companies not listed here are not allowed to connect with the Airbnb network as well that Hosts are not authorized to work with non-official software partners.
How do I see if my listing(s) are already migrated?
Login to your account and go to the menu channel manager - listings Mapping page.
When you see both Airbnb Basic and Airbnb pro channel set to ON for the listings. You have migrated this listing before and do not need to do anything.
When you see Airbnb Pro connection OFF and Airbnb Basic ON, you have not migrated the listing yet and so need to migrate this listing before 2020/09/07.
I'm Co-host of an Airbnb account can I still connect to Airbnb Pro?
Co-host accounts can not connect directly. For this, you can connect the main Airbnb account to your Hostaway software and provide the main account owner with an Hostaway user access account in your software.
My listings are located in Singapore, can I connect?
Only officially licensed traditional listings like hotels, B&B's can connect. The Airbnb API will deny connection for any other type, and an error on Migration or Import will inform you about this limitation. There is no alternative option to connect when this restriction applies to one or more of your listings.
Airbnb shows I can only connect to one API partner at the same time, what now?
You are likely connected to a second software that also acts as channel manager software. Airbnb only allows one channel managing software to connect at the same time. You can find this in Airbnb under your account profile - connected apps. You will have to disconnect this software in order to connect your Hostaway software. If you think it is by mistake, please contact Airbnb to review the app settings.
I do not wish or can not connect with the Airbnb Pro API, what now?
The API connection controllers many functions and provides many details of your guests. When you do not or can not connect, you may consider using custom iCal connections for the sync. Hostaway does not recommend this connection for Airbnb due to its reliability.
I do not need some of my listings to sync with Airbnb anymore, what now?
When you do no longer need some of your listings to sync with Airbnb, Hostaway will automatically disconnect them from the Airbnb Basic connection after 2020/09/07.
A non-official software partner told me they can still connect with Airbnb Basic API?
Technically this might be true in a hacky way. The use of these types of non-official software is in direct violation of your Airbnb Host account terms and conditions. Hostaway can not advise on these matters. We do know that Host accounts using un-official software regularly are placed under the Airbnb investigation team and, in some cases, lose their account.
I need more time to migrate, can you keep my Airbnb Basic connection still live?
No, the Airbnb Basic connection will stop working after 2020/09/07.
Can you migrate my listings and accounts for me?
No, Airbnb demands the host to agree with legal terms in your accounts for connection. Hostaway is not allowed to do this for you. Hostaway is more than happy to help you during migration in an only meeting. Reach out to email@example.com to book a session with one of our specialists.
