Vrbo Quotehold
Booking updates, in particular, can contain approval/denial of reservations made for non-instant-bookable, what Vrbo calls Quotehold listings.
If a listing isn't instant bookable, then every reservation is created in "unconfirmed" status, and you have until the next Booking Update request (max 24h) to approve or decline such reservations.
If you decline the reservation, reservation status is changed to "cancelled", and this cancellation is further fetched by HomeAway through the Booking Update service. In this case, no penalties/service fees are charged.
However, after 24h, fees are charged on the Vrbo side as if it was an approved reservation, and further denial of this reservation becomes, in fact, a regular cancellation initiated by the host. In case of approval, the status of the reservation is changed to "new" on our side and this change is in a similar manner further fetched by HomeAway through Booking Update service, making it a regularly confirmed reservation on their side.
IMPORTANT - Reservations for Quotehold listings will block the calendar until they are approved.
How to Approve / Deny reservations made for non-instant-bookable listings
- In Reservation: The status will be "unconfirmed"
- To approve/decline, you will need to open the reservation > Scroll down to the end of the Guest tab > Both buttons "Approve / Decline" will appear.
The approval or decline will take a max of 24 hours to reach HomeAway as explained above:
