Custom Domain for the Booking Engine
Hostaway now gives you the possibility to redirect your own domain (or sub-domain) to your Hostaway Booking Engine.
This will require you to go to your domain provider and change records. Depending on the domain provider, it can be more or less easy to perform. We advise requesting the help of your domain provider if needed.
Note: Request this option to support@hostaway.com if you don't have access yet
- The changes can take up to 48 hours to be made depending on your domain provider
Configure your main or subdomain
Configuring your domain will redirect to your Hostaway booking engine.
We will use the example for the domain "myrentals.com"
Configure your main domain
This is to redirect your "myrentals.com" or "www.myrentals.com"
-
-
-
-
Enter your domain name without the “www”. For example - myrentals.com
-
Save the changes
- Go to your domain provider dashboard > create and/or edit a new DNS CNAME record, with the name “www” and use Copy Cname from the dashboard to get the Value that needs to be added as Cname value.
-
Go to your domain provider dashboard > create and/or edit your DNS A record, with name "@" and use Copy A Record from the dashboard to get the Value that needs to be added as A record value.
-
Remove from your DNS settings any AAAA records pointing to your main domain.
-
-
-
Configure a subdomain
-
-
-
- Enter the subdomain and domain names. For example, if you want the booking engine to appear on book.myrentals.com then under the subdomain, you should enter “book” and under the domain “myrentals.com”.
- Save the changes
- Go to your domain provider dashboard > create and/or edit a new DNS CNAME record, for example with name book and use Copy Cname from the dashboard to get the Value that needs to be added as Cname record value.
-
-
Important:
- The changes can take up to 24 hours to be made depending on your domain provider
- You will need to activate Captcha (as mentioned below).
- Make sure you only have one A record for your domain or for your subdomain (depending on the configuration you are trying to achieve) in your domain DNS Zone file otherwise our system will not be able to process these changes
- Make sure you don't have any AAAA record in your domain DNS Zone file otherwise our system will not be able to process these changes

Some tips
- If you don't know who your domain provider is, use who.is
- If you want to check if your A record/CNAM are propagating properly, you can use WhatsmyDNS.net
- Once changes have been made, you will need to check if it worked properly via Incognito Window (for Google Chrome) - Incognito Window will force your browser to check if the domain redirects properly to Hostaway Booking Engine (instead of relying on cache)
